As a guide, lots of modern homes from 1970 onwards were fitted with this metric sized fire door, one question we are asked is why? we wish we could answer that question with confidence but some wags have suggested it was to prevent theft from building sites as the doors did not fit older properties - we are not so sure about this idea.
Metric doors sizes as fire doors are always available in the normal sizes but also in the more unusual door sizes of 526mm, 626mm, 726mm, 826mm and 926mm, not all doors have all the metric sizes, this category is to show these doors and make it easier for you the customer to find.
The above range of sizes will always be 44mm thick and there is a very large choice of fire doors with glass, panels and as flush doors always available, they may not be the cheapest fire doors but they are some of the best.
Interior fire doors fire from spreading and are required to perform these main functions set out below:
- To protect all escape routes from the effects of fire (including smoke) so occupants can leave safely
- To protect the contents and/or structure of the building by limiting the fire spread (an insurance requirement)
- To permit fire fighting to be carried out safely
